Freerepublic: As a Greek-American, I went to see The Odyssey three weeks ago with eager anticipation. At the time, the Rotten Tomatoes scores had dropped into the 60s—significantly down from the high 90s where they started. I ended up walking out after 90 minutes. Two other couples had already bailed around the one-hour mark. Only one guy remained sitting up in high right corner of the theater. It was clearly the worst movie I have ever seen, and after 70 years of watching movies, that says a lot. My brother, who still lives in Chicago where we grew up, saw it the day before. He leans left but is a sharp, reliable judge of cinema. He thought it was downright terrible, but to his credit, he didn't say a word about it until I’d seen it for myself. I was furious and deeply disappointed. I felt like I was eight years old again and someone had just stolen my bike. I was so moved to speak out that I sat down and took the time to write a thoughtful, honest review for Rotten Tomatoes, giving it a well-deserved 1 star. I posted my piece here, too, and almost everyone in the thread agreed with me. Anyone reading my review would know I’d actually watched the film—I pointed out that the classic Sinbad the Sailor movies of my youth were far better than this snoozefest. In closing, I wrote that if I’m ever on my deathbed with only a few hours left to live, I’m going to pray to God to give me back the time I wasted on The Odyssey, including the drive to and from the theater. Now, to get to the point: the RT scores have somehow bounced right back up to the mid-90s. I went back to read the recent reviews, and they’re almost entirely one-sentence, 5-star fluff posts. And guess what? My detailed review was completely scrubbed. Has this happened to anyone else?

No clube vendedor, é uma venda que do ponto de vista liquido andará muito perto do topo e possibilitará finalmente o ataque ao mercado. Do clube comprador, recebe um enorme talento pronto para espalhar magia em território italiano. Do jogador, desbloqueia uma teia difícil por cá e encontrará um treinador, sistema e contexto muito vantajoso para continuar a desenvolver o seu (muito) futebol. Muito se tem falado na critica a Farioli pela falta de variabilidade para incluir Mora e também no típico “bom treinador é o que sabe potenciar ao máximo cada jogador”. Podendo isso ser verdade, não é algo claro como se diz. Deve sim potenciar cada jogador mas, antes disso, deve priorizar o coletivo e alcançar os objetivos estabelecidos (neste caso, ser campeão). De nada vale um treinador capaz de espremer ao máximo 20 atletas se chega a maio e fica a ver navios. Aconteceu com Farioli e Mora, como aconteceu com Luis Enrique e Mbappé e outros inúmeros exemplos. Para concluir, para alguns não acharem que apenas defendo um lado, também acho que a aposta poderia ter sido ligeiramente diferente e ter sido testado mais vezes as opções alternativas como falso EXT ou falso AVA. Não aconteceu e ficará sempre a dúvida do “e se…”. Muito tranquilo em relação a este assunto pelo que tenho vindo a falar ao longo destes tempos. Από τα μεγαλύτερα μυστήρια για μένα του #paofc Ξεκινήματα Αλαφούζου στον ΠΑΟ έρχεται αυτός ο άγνωστος στο ευρύ κοινό παίχτης. Μου είχε κάνει εντύπωση ότι ο ΠΑΟ τον έφερνε χωρίς κόστος μόνο με ένα ποσοστό μεταπώλησης αν θυμάμαι καλά. Ο παίχτης 20 χρόνων ερχόταν από ήδη 2-3 γεμάτες σεζόν στη Νιγηρία, ενώ ήταν αρχηγός της Εθνικής U20. Κάνει μεγάλο τουρνουά στο Παγκόσμιο U20 το οποίο τότε είχε μεταδοθεί από την ΕΡΤ καθώς συμμετείχε και η εθνική μας ομάδα (Κατίδης κτλ.). Όλοι οι συμπαίχτες του έπαιζαν με μεγάλα ποσά για ευρωπαϊκές ομάδες και εμείς τον παίρναμε κυριολεκτικά τσάμπα και χωρίς ανταγωνισμό? Στην πρώτη του χρονιά είναι αρκετά καλός και περιμένουμε βάση της ηλικίας του (20-21) να γίνει ακόμα καλύτερος. Δεν βελτιώνεται σε τίποτα και με τα χρόνια χάνει τη θέση του στο ροτεισον. Κάνε 2-3 τίμιες χρονιές ακόμα σε Ολλανδία και Βέλγιο και μόλις πατάει τα 27-28 χρόνια εξαφανίζεται εντελώς από το προσκήνιο. Είδα μετά ότι έπαιξε σε κάτι τελειωμένα πρωταθλήματα Σουδάν και Ιορδανίας. Το συμπέρασμα μου είναι ότι πρέπει να έλεγε ψέματα για την ηλικία του, να ήταν 4-5 χρόνια μεγαλύτερος και να το είχαν μυριστει στην Ευρώπη. Για αυτό και δεν υπηρχε κανένα ουσιαστικό ενδιαφέρον από ομάδες, ενώ ήταν ο καλύτερος παίχτης της εθνικής Νιγηρίας U20 με πολλά γκολ σε τουρνουά. Qualità atletiche e cambio di passo ben sopra la media, ma con Diego Moreira la Serie A e il Milan accolgono in primis un dribblatore eccezionale. Un dato: tenta circa 4 dribbling ogni 90 minuti; pochi in meno di un un’ala top come Kvara (4.74). Me ne innamorai in Youth League col Benfica, quando faceva svolazzare le treccine dribblando chiunque con le sue tipiche conduzioni palla al piede. Poi si è un po’ perso: testa caldina -si dice. Ma lo Strasburgo di Rosenior gli ha permesso di esplodere da terzino/estero di cc a sx; poi è tornato a fare l’ala dx con O’Neil negli ultimi mesi. Spetterà ad Amorim trovargli la collocazione più adeguata (a destra o a sinistra, ma la fascia è il suo habitat). Ha senz’altro ancora tanto da sgrezzare, ma mi prendo la responsabilità di sostenere che il Milan ha preso un talento di prima fascia.
