Fixed vs. Growth Mindset

Growth Mindset:

Fixed Mindset:

• tend to believe their basic attributes )like intelligence and talent) are innate and set in stone;


• avoid difficult tasks, fearing that failure might expose a lack in ability.

Having The Paradox Mindset

• A study found that employees with a paradox mindset were better able to cope with "resource scarcity" at work. They found the challenge of limited resources inspiring and created better solutions to the problems within their role.


• Leaders may find it important to note that managers with a paradox mindset influence the innovation of the whole team. Companies that embrace paradoxical strategies tend to outperform their competitors.

What mindset is

A mindset is a set of assumptions, methods, or notations that is so established that it creates a powerful incentive within you to continue to adopt or accept prior behaviours, choices, or tools.

It’s so powerful that it affects every decision-making process. It predetermines your responses and interpretations of situations.

Categories of contributors in the workplace

• High-impact contributors: These people are doing work of exceptional value and impact.
• Typical contributors: These are smart and talented people who are doing solid work.
• Under-contributors: These are smart and talented people who are playing below their ability. 

The difference between the Impact players and the Contributor is the mode of thinking. It’s learnable and coachable, thus available to everyone. A leader can develop an entire team with the Impact Player Mindset.
