Today it is a year since I received a call that no mother should receive. A friend of my daughter was on the phone and told me my child had just been brutally beaten. In the background, I heard my child sobbing and repeatedly saying, "My mama, my mama." When I arrived, she was lying blood-soaked on a bench. The perpetrator had brought her to the ground and hit and kicked her so violently that she broke her own hand in the process. My daughter arrived at the hospital with split lips, a skull-brain trauma, and an abdominal trauma. What followed would not be believed by anyone if I hadn't fortunately documented everything in writing. My child sleeps poorly, cries a lot, withdraws. About once a week I have to pick her up from school because she has a panic attack or simply cannot stop crying; before that, she was cheeky, confident, and cheerful... She is in therapy, but outside she only feels safe to this day when I am there or at least two of her friends. I drive her to appointments, or friends pick her up. When she has managed to go out alone, she has been harassed again by the perpetrator. And next Friday, she is supposed to attend an event for vocational training at her old school, where she was bullied for two years, and her attacker is supposed to participate in the same event because she is in the same year at that school. My child will not go there. But it makes me so angry that she has to miss out on this event for that reason. I have already experienced how little she was protected there and how much, in my opinion, perpetrators were protected, especially if they were not German. Why should I trust that it will be different this time? I can't even accompany her because I have been banned from the premises after reporting the principal to the authorities several times. Next month, the first hearing before the juvenile court is finally happening. The civil lawsuit is still pending, but I have a great lawyer by my side who is there for me the whole time. This weekend, my daughter is fortunately with a good friend of mine and her children. The kids have known each other since they were small, and I hope she can relax a bit there. After the hearing, we wanted to go back to the Baltic Sea during the fall break. Whether that works out with the gas prices, I don't know. It's already difficult enough to handle all of this somehow. And then I also have to watch my child have to forgo completely normal things because of fear of her attacker. It just leaves me in disbelief. Our children are no longer safe in this country...
