David Alandete wrote that he asked Donald Trump if he supported the return of María Corina Machado to Venezuela, which she had defended in an article. He reported that Trump nodded, praised her, and said that Machado had given him the Nobel Prize because she knew he had earned it; he also stated that everything would be fine. Alandete clarified that he did not present the response as an explicit endorsement or rejection. He noted that Trump did not commit to supporting the return nor explained what the United States would do to facilitate it, but neither did he oppose it. He added that other media had described the response similarly. Alandete said that the political interpretations of Trump's silences and the desire for him to have answered differently belonged to the realm of aspirations and propaganda in Caracas. #Trump #Venezuela #Periodismo (translated)

David Alandete wrote that, in his opinion, all of Chavismo and its allies had mobilized to present Donald Trump's words as if they implied that a Venezuelan awarded the Nobel Peace Prize could not return to Venezuela. He added that he did not know if they were aware of the harm they were causing to themselves by defending that position. #Venezuela #Trump #Chavismo (translated)

David Alandete described it as chaotic to be able to ask questions to Trump, although he noted that he gave opportunities to journalists. He said that the day before he had answered questions on topics such as Serbia, Venezuela, Brazil, and Iraq, and that day he would again attend to the media at the helipad he had just built. He also mentioned that his colleague Patricia Vasc was there working. #Trump #medios #caos (translated)

David Alandete wrote that the minister who had used dehumanizing language against the Spaniards, used a derogatory term to refer to a Venezuelan exile and accused a journalist of treason on public television for asking a question, now claimed to feel dehumanized. He added that, in his opinion, actions and words had consequences. #Política #España #Deshumanización (translated)

David Alandete stated that propaganda sectors of Chavismo tried to present Donald Trump's words about María Corina Machado as referring to another matter. According to Alandete, Trump responded "she's a great woman" and said "everything is going to be fine" when he was directly asked about Machado's return to Venezuela. He added that the Trump administration could later clarify its statements, but he asserted that the question was specific and the answer, direct. He also criticized what he described as a propagandistic interpretation and of low journalistic quality. https://t.co/V2vbiT8W5k #Venezuela #Chavismo #Periodismo (translated)

David Alandete wrote that he asked Donald Trump about María Corina Machado's article in the New York Post, where she claimed that she should return to Venezuela. According to Alandete, Trump praised her, described her as a "very good woman," and said that her return "is going to go well." The journalist described the message as very significant at that moment. #Venezuela #MaríaCorinaMachado #Trump (translated)

David Alandete wrote that the United States had revealed that Delcy's regime had formally requested immunity for her before the U.S. judiciary, but had not done the same for Maduro. According to Alandete, the Attorney General indicated that Caracas had opportunities to claim immunity for Maduro and did not do so, allowing the trial to proceed without objection. https://t.co/znOkAMP3ll #Venezuela #Justicia #DerechosHumanos (translated)

David Alandete stated that the president of RTVE had stopped limiting himself to managing public television and was openly engaging in politics from there. He added that he used expressions like "vulture funds" and "social wound" and supported the ideological message of the Government and one of its programs, which he described as particularly infamous. #RTVE #Política #MediosDeComunicación (translated)

David Alandete reported that Democratic senators Jeanne Shaheen, Jack Reed, Martin Heinrich, and Elizabeth Warren warned in a letter dated September 30 to Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, and Chris Wright that the oil agreement with Betancourt may lack a clear legal basis for enforcing some of its provisions. The four lawmakers, the leading Democrats on the Foreign Relations, Armed Services, Energy, and Banking committees, pointed out that the law that created the Department of Defense's Strategic Capital Office allows for the granting and guaranteeing of loans but does not expressly authorize the purchase of stakes in private oil companies. According to the public documentation they cited, the agreement provides for a 35% U.S. equity stake in the parent company of NABEP. The senators also questioned what authority would allow the State Department to commit to long-term oil purchases. They requested that the Government identify the laws upon which both operations would be based, explain the source of the funds, and deliver the complete text of the agreement before its final approval. In addition, they requested information regarding the prior investigation of Betancourt and any potential economic benefits for Trump, his family, donors, or current or former officials of his Administration. Alandete noted that the lawmakers threatened to undertake legislative and legal actions and that the legal structure was one of the obstacles to launching the project. #Política #Energía #Legislación (translated)

David Alandete argued that a political, activist, media, and business structure had been created around the permanent presentation of women, homosexuals, immigrants, Palestinians, and Moroccans as victims. In his opinion, this generated an incentive for those who gained power or influence by defending them: that they continued to be considered victims. Alandete pointed to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as an extreme example. He said that a political, diplomatic, and negotiating industry had formed around it for decades, and that when it seemed possible to resolve it with Bill Clinton, the influence and careers that some people had built around the conflict became exposed. According to what he wrote, that was canceled, the Palestinian negotiators continued to make a living from negotiating, and Israel had few incentives to yield. The author added that combating discrimination was necessary, but that turning it into a permanent identity was paternalistic and generated dependency. He also stated that in Spain there were media and journalists who thrived on that dynamic and that, according to him, they did so better than the people they defended. #Victimismo #Discriminación #JusticiaSocial (translated)

David Alandete pointed out that in the United States one in three people lived on rent, compared to one in five in Spain, and that an eviction for non-payment could be executed in just two weeks. He added that there were aid and subsidies, but maintained that there were no encampments in Times Square or drumming sessions, and accused the government of using an isolated case to stay in power. #Alquiler #Vivienda #Desahucios (translated)

Asked here if the United States plans to build a military base in Venezuela or in some other part of South America. His response: "We are considering different options." As of today, the United States does not have large permanent military bases in South America. https://t.co/4y4uzXGtAd #Trump #Venezuela #EstadosUnidos (translated)

When a headline already includes "ultras," "criminalize," and "double standard" before telling you what has happened, it is not informing you. It is telling you what you have to think. Activism disguised as journalism.
