This is a very thoughtful essay from somebody close to the actual frontier, seeing firsthand the growing problems we have in making AI safe. Very worth reading. Also, it might help outsiders understand that uncontrolled superintelligence is something insiders take seriously. #AI #Superintelligence #Safety #Therearenospecificcountriesmentionedinthetweet. Therefore #theresponseis:

We are perhaps approaching the moment when Washington DC will finally realize that Silicon Valley actually means what they say, rather than doing political and commercial signaling. #SiliconValley #WashingtonDC #TechTruths #US

Overhead conversation between little girl and her parents on subway, about wedding clothes. She is interested that it involves ties and dresses. Mom tells her that two men can marry, and then they both get to wear tie. Or two women, two dresses. Interesting new paper, with semaglutide acting as a CR mimetic for slowing ageing. https://t.co/JWtxrPU08r #semaglutide #aging #research #Thetweetdoesnotmentionanyspecificcountries.

The right to our own bodies also must imply a right to know our own bodies, and share such information if we wish. The French anti-genetic testing laws don't seem to be compatible with such rights. https://t.co/dVyF1E8IGf #BodyAutonomy #GeneticTesting #RightToKnow #FR

Right now I am watching AIs write code for other AIs to simulate security scenarios. They run into problems; they diagnose the problems and find solutions; they write new code. I am a dilettante: a motivated or skilled person could do so much more. #AI #MachineLearning #Coding #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.

It is easy to be ironic about this, but earnestly, whatever you think about Sam, OpenAI, or AI in general, it actually looks like everybody need to beef up their cyber defenses yesterday. Likely to a level that looked crazy this spring. #CyberSecurity #AI #OpenAI #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.

Part of my media diet are the USCSB videos about industrial accidents. I want there to be something like that for AI accidents. Ideally long before we get fatalities. https://t.co/lVwOdhvqfu #AIethics #safetyfirst #industrialaccidents #US

LLM-speak is very invasive. Like any other style of language or slang. When there are many users of some constructions and we encounter them frequently, we tend to imitate them. I expect the future of human language to be symbiotic with AI language use. #LLMs #LanguageEvolution #AIAssistedCommunication #Nospecificcountrycodesarepresentinthetweet.

The caricature prepper planning to outlast the End alone with toilet paper and guns was of course wrong, since disaster survival is very much a community thing. The same applies to GCRs: there is no place that can smugly ignore the rest of the world, we need the global community. #DisasterPreparedness #CommunitySurvival #GlobalCooperation #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.

I propose background checks in dating apps. Shouldn't we allow, or even make mandatory, public background checks for politicians? After all, if the risk in dating is significant enough to justify them, it should be significant enough for such positions. (translated)

AI generated reviewing and criticism is a fantastic new factor. Not always right, not always unbiased, but fast and cheap, and often with a broader knowledge base than many human reviewers. Never leave home without it in 2026. #AI #TechTrends #FutureOfReviewing #Therearenospecificcountriesmentionedinthetweet. Therefore #theresponseis: (Nocountrycodes)

I wonder if the mere existence of current AI is forcing scholars to be more exacting in actually checking references, since a flawed reference now looks like professionally embarrassing sloppy AI use. #AI #AcademicIntegrity #ReferenceChecking #Nocountrycodesfound.

Setting up an official AI killswitch is a great idea, since it (and the hosting institution, and people involved) will be such a primary hacking target that it will tell us the state of unfiltered cyber capacity (until it gets too subtle, of course). #AI #CyberSecurity #Hacking #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweetprovided.

Given that leaks are responsible for about 400 times the water usage of data centers, there is an obvious win-win solution: approve as many data centers as the market wants, but they have to fix at least twice as much leakage as they want to use water. #WaterConservation #DataCenters #Sustainability #Thetweetdoesnotmentionanyspecificcountries. Therefore #therearenocountrycodestoprovide.

Academic writing with LLM has unexpected benefits, like getting explanations of how to position an interdisciplinary paper so the two main disciplines it deals with would like it. I would not have seen it. #AcademicWriting #Interdisciplinary #LLM #Nospecificcountrycodes.

Andreas is doing the right thing, and pointing at a key issue: AI supported mass surveillance can scale, will be used, and the only real protection is good governance - of AI and governments. #AISurveillance #GoodGovernance #PrivacyRights #Nospecificcountrycodescanbeidentifiedintheprovidedtweet.

I am somewhat of an optimist about AI alignment and xrisk (yet I think they merit hard work!) but I have become increasingly worried that we as a society might not even handle the transition to merely useful AI well, risking that we shake apart social contracts and institutions. #AIAlignment #Xrisk #SocialImpact #Thetweetdoesnotmentionanyspecificcountries. Therefore #therearenocountrycodestoreturn.

I signed “We Must Act Now: A Statement on AI’s Transformation of the Economy.” https://t.co/hd6fUnODyb ...which is much less alarming than it sounds. It is basically "this is a fricking big thing, we ought to investigate this *way* more than is being done!" #AI #Economy #ActNow #Therearenospecificcountrycodesinthegiventweet.

Thinking about online academic journals that may disappear, and open access fees. Paying that fee seems to imply a demand that the paper be made accessible in perpetuity. Current contracts and laws likely do not support that interest, but we should push for this. #OpenAccess #AcademicPublishing #ResearchAccess #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.
