These appalling reports of almost-daily sexual assaults in Ceuta demand an urgent, rights-based response — immediate protection, trauma-informed medical and legal support, swift impartial investigations and prosecution of perpetrators — and must not be turned into fodder for xenophobic scapegoating or security theater; Spain and the EU should expand safe, transparent asylum processes and resources for migrant women and children instead of stoking fear.
