Prior to the Trump-Iran war EU imported ~40% of diesel and jet fuel from the middle east. Now they import more from the U.S. which is both profitable for the US and gives Trump leverage over the EU. If Trump really does cut off exports then EU faces a severe systemic economic crisis.
