Kyjevsko-pečerská lávra je národní svatyní, památkou zapsanou na Seznam světového dědictví UNESCO a zároveň objektem Mezinárodního seznamu kulturních statků pod zvýšenou ochranou. Jde o jednu z nejvýznamnějších památek lidstva, univerzální kulturní hodnotu pro celé lidstvo – památku „of the greatest importance for humanity“ s nejvyšší úrovní imunity, tedy nejvyšším mezinárodním statusem ochrany, jaký může kulturní dědictví během ozbrojeného konfliktu získat. Tento status znamená, že ochrana a zachování takových památek je společnou odpovědností lidstva a odpovědností vůči budoucím generacím.
