Palantir beschreibt Axel Springer öffentlich als Kunden: Mithilfe von Foundry sowie KI- und Machine-Learning-Funktionen werden unter anderem Leserverhalten, Werbung und datenbasierte Entscheidungen analysiert. Axel Springer berichtete bereits 2019 über den Einsatz von Palantir-Software zur Optimierung datenbasierter Entscheidungsprozesse im Nachrichtengeschäft. Und es geht noch weiter: Alex Karp, Mitgründer und CEO von Palantir, saß von April 2018 bis Ende 2019 im Aufsichtsrat der Axel Springer SE. Anschließend wurde er Mitglied des im Zuge des KKR-Einstiegs gebildeten Gesellschafterausschusses. Axel Springer präsentierte Karp zudem öffentlich als wichtigen Digitalisierungsexperten; Mathias Döpfner interviewte ihn ausführlich über KI, Datenanalyse und Privatsphäre. Mit anderen Worten: Wenn ein großer Medienkonzern Palantir-Technologie und KI zur Datenanalyse nutzt, heißt das Digitalisierung und Innovation. Wenn eine unabhängige Rechercheurin KI nutzt, um öffentlich zugängliche Register, Namen, Adressen und institutionelle Verbindungen strukturiert auszuwerten, soll man ihr dagegen „die KI wegnehmen“? Das ist keine sachliche Kritik. Sie nennen keinen falschen Beleg, keine fehlerhafte Quelle und keine konkrete Schlussfolgerung, die Sie widerlegen könnten.
