Omar H. García Harfuch reported that, following instructions from President Claudia Sheinbaum, authorities were conducting intelligence, investigation, and coordination efforts against criminal groups that, as he noted, were generating violence in Oaxaca, especially in Juchitán de Zaragoza and the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. He stated that the Naval Intelligence Unit of the Ministry of the Navy and the National Intelligence Center had participated in the arrest of Iván N., alias "El Cromo," in Guadalajara, Jalisco. He identified him as one of the leaders of Los Cromos, an organization that, according to investigations, was linked to the CJNG and involved in homicides, extortion, racketeering, kidnapping, and drug and arms trafficking. García Harfuch indicated that the arrested individual had two documented arrest warrants for qualified homicide, related to three victims, and a third warrant for the same crime from 2020, mentioned in intelligence records. He added that the investigations implicated the organization in the alleged involvement in the murder of a four-year-old girl in Juchitán. A reward of up to two million pesos had been offered for information leading to Iván N.'s capture. The official noted that the arrest continued the investigations that led, on September 23, to the arrest of Miguel N., then mayor of Juchitán de Zaragoza, and another member of the organization. Both were being investigated for their probable involvement in aggravated extortion and crimes against state security, as well as for alleged protection schemes for criminal groups, he said. He added that the operation was led by the Ministry of the Navy along with the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection, the Ministry of National Defense, the Attorney General's Office, the National Guard, the National Intelligence Center, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Oaxaca Prosecutor's Office, and other authorities from Oaxaca and Jalisco.
