Ultimora.net reported that, following the protests of truck drivers in Southern Italy against the rising fuel prices, Pasquale Russo, president of Conftrasporto, had urged the government to urgently summon the sector's associations, otherwise a national halt would need to be considered. According to the site, there were no real blockades in Calabria: trucks were positioned at the sides of the roads under the control of law enforcement, but the narrowing of the roadway would still cause disruptions to traffic. About fifteen pickets had been organized, including in the areas of Lamezia Terme airport, Gioia Tauro port, and the A2 motorway exits.
