Lo que está ocurriendo en el Tolima es gravísimo. Hay indicios de que algunos incendios forestales están siendo provocados deliberadamente y he ordenado actuar con toda la contundencia del Estado. Los reportes recibidos señalan indicios técnicos compatibles con el posible uso de acelerantes y denuncias reiteradas de autoridades locales sobre hombres en motocicleta que estarían prendiendo fuego intencionalmente en Suárez, Coello y San Luis. Todo esto deberá ser investigado y judicializado con rigor. Mientras nuestros 205 bomberos, cerca de 20 unidades de apoyo y medios aéreos arriesgan sus vidas combatiendo las llamas, también hemos recibido reportes de personas que estarían obstaculizando las labores de extinción. Además, se investiga si existe una relación entre la generación deliberada de incendios, la distracción de las autoridades y posteriores acciones criminales contra la seguridad y la infraestructura. He ordenado reforzar de inmediato la presencia de la Fuerza Pública en San Luis, Coello y Suárez, proteger a las comunidades y a nuestros bomberos, identificar y capturar a quienes estén provocando incendios y garantizar que nadie interfiera con las operaciones de emergencia. Asimismo, le he dado la instrucción al director de la UNGRD de solicitar de inmediato apoyo internacional a Chile y a Estados Unidos para combatir y sofocar estos incendios. Ambos países cuentan con amplia experiencia y capacidades especializadas en el manejo de grandes incendios forestales. Vamos a utilizar todos los recursos nacionales e internacionales que sean necesarios para proteger la vida de los colombianos y nuestro territorio. Una cosa es clara: quien incendia nuestros campos, pone en peligro a familias enteras o sabotea a quienes combaten el fuego es un criminal y será tratado como tal.
