I met him on a TeamSpeak we called "TS Netteux" back in the day, over 10 years ago now. It was a TS where almost the entire French subtop scene of the early CS:GO was present. I still don't know how I ended up there since I was just a guy who played on FACEIT and had never played as a team. I found myself with pros and semi-pros from the scene, and I was so happy to be with those guys and to be able to play with them. My only obsession was for one of them to give me a chance to play with them as a team. There were several young players in the same situation on the TS, we had no concept of team play, we only thought about individual skill and making highlights to impress the subtop players. I remember one day when Malek had us join a server, with other guys like me who were hanging around on the TS. We were on Dust2, and he was telling us to imagine a line that divides the map in two, the bombsite A and the bombsite B, and that the goal as terrorists was to go to the bombsite where there were the least CTs. He also made comments about our approach to the game: "You only think about shooting and getting kills, but in a round, the time you spend shooting an enemy is 2 seconds. You put all your attention on those 2 seconds, but what are you doing for the next 1 minute and 40 seconds, and what can you do to help your team win the round?" He was teaching us the basics of team play, and we listened to him attentively. I had the opportunity to run into him at LANs from time to time and chat a bit with him. We weren't particularly close, but the exchanges were always fascinating and very direct with him. Je viens d’apprendre la nouvelle et je suis tellement dévasté par celle-ci. Perdre un grand frère de cette façon… À aucun moment je n’aurais pu imaginer ça de toi, que tu en arrives là. Je suis tellement triste et en colère. Pourquoi t’es pas venu en parler à tes proches ? Nous savions que t’avais une vie perso compliquée, mais pourquoi en arriver là ? Je te remercie tellement pour tout ce que tu as fait pour moi, pour nous, tes amis, dans les moments de galère, dans la joie et la tristesse. Nos fous rires, nos embrouilles… Tout va me manquer. Peu de personnes connaissaient vraiment la personne que tu étais au fond, car souvent, les gens s’arrêtaient à ton image de streamer/YouTubeur. Mais t’avais un grand cœur, un cœur énorme. T’as toujours partagé ce que t’avais, même avec des inconnus, sans rien attendre en retour. CS a aujourd’hui perdu un pilier. Même si, parfois, ta personne n’était pas appréciée de tout le monde, personne ne pourra jamais t’enlever la passion immense que tu avais pour ce jeu. Tu l’as vécu à fond pendant toutes ces années, et tu auras marqué cette communauté à ta manière. Je me rappelle encore de nos bootcamps, de nos LANs… J’ai l’impression que tout ça, c’était hier. Je te vois encore avec ton sourire, je nous revois encore rigoler pour rien, passer des heures ensemble comme si ces moments allaient durer pour toujours. C’est fou comme certains souvenirs paraissent anodins sur le moment, et aujourd’hui ils prennent une valeur immense. Il y a tellement de choses que j’aurais aimé pouvoir te redire, tellement de souvenirs que j’aurais aimé pouvoir revivre encore une fois avec toi. Je me rappelle encore de cette journée-là où mon clavier m’a lâché et tu as débranché le tien en me disant : « Tiens, prends-le. » Au final, je l’ai toujours gardé avec moi, et quand je vois ton nom derrière celui-là, ça me brise le cœur de me dire que t’es parti, que le soleil se lèvera sans toi et qu’une autre étoile brillera. Tu vas laisser un vide énorme derrière toi. Mais je sais aussi que tous ceux qui ont vraiment eu la chance de te connaître garderont une partie de toi avec eux, à travers les souvenirs, les moments partagés, les rires et tout ce que tu as pu apporter aux autres. J’aurais tellement aimé qu’on ait encore du temps. Un dernier fou rire, une dernière discussion, une dernière embrouille même… Juste un moment de plus. Je ne t’oublierai jamais.
