And now, temporarily no water in Kyiv. The city’s water utility says its main facilities have lost power due to russian attacks on energy infrastructure. They’re working to restore the water supply. I’ll let you know when it’s back.

Kyiv. Late morning. Last night, russia targeted energy infrastructure across Ukraine. The situation in Kyiv remains very difficult. But I’m grateful for these few hours of electricity we had. It let me charge everything. I made a warcoffee and had it slowly. One day at a time.

So, a massive attack on Ukraine is expected tonight. The energy infrastructure is the obvious target. Winter is coming. I’m sitting in Kyiv, with no electricity and no sign of it coming back, thinking about how desperate russia is. Perhaps I will read a bit. Yes, a good idea. I have many lamps.

Kyiv. Left bank of the city. Yesterday and today we had 2 hours of electricity during the day, and a few hours in the middle of the night. No schedules. You either ‘caught’ the electricity or you didn’t. russia destroys our electricity infrastructure and everything in its way.

A drone threat has been ongoing for 4 hours in Kyiv. Air defence is working hard. We have electricity back after an 11-hour outage. Schedules don’t work. At the artists’ studios I visited today, there was no electricity as well. But the windows gave us a gift: daylight. More to come.

Came here to say hi. Late evening in Kyiv. After a ‘parade’ of air raid alerts, it’s calm. Tonight, russians hit a critical infrastructure facility. Some districts have emergency outages. I still have scheduled power cuts. I’m writing this as others might write, ‘Hi, an ordinary day here.’

Kyiv is under missile attack. Explosion after explosion. Pretty loud in here.

I’m reading about today’s inhuman russian attacks. A drone struck a platform at the railway station in Dnipro, killing at least 13 people. Another drone hit the centre of Chernihiv, killing two girls. After all these long years of war, I still cannot understand how humanity allows wars to thrive.

Late October morning in Kyiv. We were under attack last night. Once again (I’ve lost count), ‘my’ bridge was hit. It’s closed to cars and metro trains. I’m making a warcoffee. Electricity is back. Just for a few hours. So, life has its treats, for sure.

Kyiv is under ballistic missile attack. Unscheduled power cut. A new EcoFlow (portable power station) was delivered a few minutes ago as the previous one was saying goodbye. Life.

Drone debris falls on Kyiv like steel rain. The mayor keeps us informed about the damage it causes. We pretend we have umbrellas to hide under. Saturday evening. Drone attack again. I look out of the window to check whether it’s raining or not.

Kyiv. Evening. I don’t like this feeling of waiting for the power to go off. The schedule says 7:30 pm. The power cut is late and could come at any second without knocking. So, I’m turning into a woman with a flashlight wondering where her power cut is wandering.

Morning in Kyiv after the night attack. I woke up early to make a warcoffee, wash and dry my hair before the power outage. My sleep was chopped up by explosions. russians hit the metro infrastructure on ‘my’ bridge. So, once again, metro trains aren’t crossing the Dnipro River over it.

Midnight in Kyiv soon. Ballistic missile threat again. A bit earlier, explosions shook the air. It definitely looks like the end of the war 🙃 Soon. In 24 hours. Next year. Sometime.

Kyiv. Evening. The generators are singing outside. And all these talks, meetings, and negotiations seem a bit ridiculous to me in Kyiv, surrounded by the sound of resistance, and reading about the end of August 1939.

Perhaps it didn’t make the news in your media. Yesterday, russia damaged the Book Chamber of Ukraine in Kyiv. It holds 15+ million books, newspapers, magazines and maps published in Ukraine since 1917. The collections are now at risk from moisture. Windows in the storage areas were blown out.

Kyiv. Monday morning. Reading updates. The news collided like two trains. CNN Travel included Kyiv’s metro among the world’s best. One metro station in Kyiv was damaged during last night’s russian attack. Two surface stations were closed.

Behind Blue Eyes 2022-2024 In spring 2022, Dima Zubkov and Artem Skorohodko brought aid to deoccupied villages in the Chernihiv region. They gave children disposable cameras to tell stories of their wartime lives and dreams. Today, Behind Blue Eyes is a charity supporting children’s creativity.

Late evening in Kyiv. Darkness is dotted with pale light from windows. Power outage. A familiar voice outside assured everyone that the air raid alert was over. When did it begin? These days, the attacks seem continuous. I see no need to complain or grumble. I write. You read. I write.

The sun is shining brightly in Kyiv after a loud night when russians targeted our energy infrastructure. I opened the window. Generators can be heard everywhere. No power. But I had a warcoffee. Strong. Black.
