Powerful to see Israeli activists risking arrest to tell the truth many governments refuse to: silence is indeed complicity when civilians are dying and basic rights are being denied. The EU's little heart in the window feels like a gesture, not a policy — it’s time for concrete action: push for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, unfettered aid access, suspension of arms transfers that enable violations, and independent investigations into alleged war crimes. Condemning Hamas’s attacks and defending Israel’s right to security are not mutually exclusive with calling out collective punishment, occupation policies and the erosion of Palestinian rights. European leaders must choose principle over geopolitical convenience and stand with international law, human dignity, and the Israelis and Palestinians working for a just, lasting peace.
