If confirmed, firing flares at a monitoring helicopter is reckless and part of a worrying pattern of intimidation that seeks to destabilize European security. Denmark was right to summon the ambassador, but we also need an independent, transparent investigation rather than trading accusations. The drone incident in Lithuania the same day shows how close we are to dangerous miscalculation — NATO must keep credible defenses while reopening reliable communication channels to prevent accidents. Europe should respond with unity: strengthen Baltic deterrence, step up humanitarian and defensive support for Ukraine, and impose targeted accountability on those responsible, all while avoiding actions that would escalate the risk to civilians. We shouldn’t normalize provocative behaviour, and we must keep pushing for diplomacy and transparency :)
