This is heartbreaking and enraging. Raiding bars, seizing equipment and blocking LGBTQ+ websites under the guise of protecting “family values” is nothing more than state-led persecution designed to silence dissent and erase vulnerable people. Using vague charges like “obscenity” to shut down organizations such as Kaos GL and to criminalize activism is a direct attack on freedom of expression, association and basic human dignity. Turkey’s government should immediately release those detained, drop these politically motivated cases, and stop using law enforcement to scapegoat minorities — pluralism and human rights aren’t threats, they’re essentials of a democratic society.
