FLORENTIA 5d

FLORENTIA argued that archaeological findings indicated the movement of Minoans beyond the Aegean, to the highlands of Anatolia. She compared Minoan Civilization with the Kingdom of Urartu, which she placed in the 9th to 7th century BC, and mentioned similarities in economy, technology, and worship. Referring to excavations, among others at Garibin Tepe, she said that Urartian ritual vessels, containers, and rhyta exhibited similarities with the Minoan ones. She added that the bull had a central symbolic role in both cultures and associated Minoan worship with the worship of the Urartian god Haldi. FLORENTIA also mentioned that both societies possessed palatial or fortified structures under the control of a priestly or royal elite, while public rituals were part of daily life. She also presented as common elements the central control of goods such as wheat, wine, and oil, as well as the use of clay seals. In the management of water, she compared the Minoan networks with the Menawa Canal, which she stated was 30 miles long, and with the rock-cut reservoirs of Urartu. Finally, she compared the collapse of Minoan centers and the disappearance of Linear A with the burning of Urartian fortifications and the loss of cuneiform writing. She suggested the possibility that the Urartians maintained elements of an older Aegean tradition of mysteries and techniques, rather than being influenced solely by the Assyrians, and announced that she would return with more details. #Αρχαιολογία #ΜινωικόςΠολιτισμός #ΟυραρτικόςΠολιτισμός (translated)
