Ο Αλέκος Χαλβατζής αποχαιρετά τον κομμουνιστή πατέρα του, Σπύρο Χαλβατζή. Για όσους ήμασταν εκεί ο χρόνος για 16 λεπτά σταμάτησε. Καθώς τον ακούγαμε κάτω απ'την βροχή. Μια ομιλία βαθιά πολιτική και ταυτόχρονα βαθιά ανθρώπινη. Στην αρχή μας μίλησε για τον Σπύρο Χαλβατζή ως το πέμπτο παιδί μια φτωχής οικογένειας. Ο πατέρας του τον είδε για πρώτη φορά όταν ήταν ακόμη βρέφος, σε επισκεπτήριο, λίγο πριν σταλεί στη Μακρόνησο, απ’ όπου θα επέστρεφε χρόνια αργότερα. Έτσι ο μικρός Σπύρος έμαθε να μιλάει, να περπατάει και έφτασε σχεδόν μέχρι το σχολείο μεγαλώνοντας, με «έναν πατέρα ιδεατό». Στη συνέχεια ο Αλέκος Χαλβατζής έκανε κάτι δύσκολο. Και συγκλονιστικό Δεν μίλησε μόνο για τον αγωνιστή, τον κομμουνιστή, τον επαναστάτη. Μίλησε για τον άνθρωπο πίσω από όλα αυτά. Για τις αντιφάσεις του, τις πληγές του, τις αδυναμίες του. Γιατί ένας επαναστάτης δεν παύει να είναι άνθρωπος. Η γενναιότητα δεν σημαίνει απουσία φόβου, πόνου ή ψυχικής εξάντλησης. Και η αναγνώριση της ανθρώπινης ευαλωτότητας δεν μικραίνει έναν αγωνιστή. Τον κάνει πραγματικό. Και ύστερα περιέγραψε μια από τις τελευταίες αναλαμπές-στιγμές χαράς του Σπύρου Χαλβατζή. Επιστρέφει για τελευταία όπως αποδείχτηκε φορά, στην πατρίδα του, την Κοζάνη, σε ένα αποκριάτικο πανηγύρι. Κρατά από το ένα χέρι τον παιδικό του φίλο και από το άλλο τον εξάχρονο εγγονό του.
