Σαν σήμερα 21/09/1956 απαγχονίζεται από τους Άγγλους αποικιοκράτες ο 21χρονος ήρωας της ΕΟΚΑ Κουτσόφτας Μιχαήλ. Γεννήθηκε στο Παλαιομέτοχο, της επαρχίας Λευκωσίας, στις 12 Νοεμβρίου 1934. Σύζυγος: Ευγενία Κουτσόφτα Γονείς: Κυριάκος και Ελένη Κουτσόφτα Αδέλφια: Κώστας, Ολυμπιάδα, Πέτρος, Άννα, Παρασκευή Στις 16 Μαΐου, έξι μέρες μετά την εκτέλεση του Καραολή και του Δημητρίου, αφού πέρασε από τον Παπά Λευτέρη και του ζήτησε να σταθεί προστάτης της αδελφής του, αν τυχόν συλληφθεί, έφυγε με τους φίλους του Ανδρέα Παναγίδη και Παρασκευά Χοιροπούλη, για το χώρο του αεροδρομίου Λευκωσίας, όπου επιτέθηκαν και σκότωσαν τον Άγγλο σμηναγό Πάτρικ Τζων Χέιλ μέσα στο γραφείο του. Καταδιώχθηκαν και συνελήφθησαν από αγγλικά στρατεύματα. Ο Μιχαήλ Κουτσόφτας και ο Ανδρέας Παναγίδης εκτελέστηκαν μαζί με το Στέλιο Μαυρομμάτη στις 21 Σεπτεμβρίου 1956. Ο Χοιροπούλης, επειδή ήταν ανήλικος, καταδικάστηκε σε ισόβια φυλάκιση. Να έχετε όλοι πίστη στον Άγιο Θεό, για να σας βοηθήσει να σταθήτε σαν Ελληνίδες Μητέρες. Μη λυπάσθε γιατί δεν θα με χάσετε. Με αφιερώνετε στην Πατρίδα. Μητέρα πρέπει να είσαι υπερήφανη γιατί είμαι κι εγώ ένα παιδί της Κύπρου, που δίνει το αίμα του για την Ελευθερία!
