I have behind me the first approximately 300 km of testing Tesla's self-driving in the Czech Republic. Center of Prague, highway, surroundings. My first TOP 20 impressions: 1. It's wow. Much better than I expected. And I've watched videos from America. In 5 minutes, you feel like you're in a taxi. The speed of "getting used to" is incredible. 2. FSD can drive fast. Sometimes even above the speed limit. It’s still a safe ride, no maneuvers like a Turk. But it can just pull ahead. 3. Speeding can be manually adjusted or completely turned off. Then it maintains 100% correct speed. But every Bolt in the center will honk at you when you're going thirty. 4. It doesn't slow down for radar. Even though it has it on the maps. Supposedly artificial intelligence, but I’ll get the ticket. 5. It can't turn right on a green arrow. 6. Blockades in the center are a problem. Yellow lines, poor signage, changes in direction... it's evidently nervous and so am I. Sometimes the signage is downright ridiculous. In one section where it struggled, a human driver was behind us and struggled exactly the same way, maybe worse. 7. Highways, on the other hand, work 100%. It lets cars in during merging, ahead of time. It instantly reacts to trucks when they start to overtake. It merges right by itself. It can speed up or slow down as needed. The highway feels resolved. 8. It can't reliably handle bus lanes. It behaves as if it knows something is wrong, but does nothing about it. Like a child who knows they did something wrong but is afraid to admit it. 9. Reaction to pedestrians is incredibly good. Sometimes even excessive. A guy stands at the red light on the crosswalk, lifts his eyes from his phone and shifts his weight – Tesla immediately gently brakes "just in case." That's great for safety. 10. It handles trams beautifully, gives way, watches for them. Tram islands are okay. Once it noticed one at the last moment and jerked a little bit. But nothing major. 11. When changing lanes at low speed, it sometimes "floats" from left to right and jerks the steering wheel quickly. Extremely uncomfortable. It looks like a bug. Maybe it's just me. Please let me know. 12. It beautifully maneuvers around obstacles. A delivery van blocks the way, it waits, signals, goes around. No problems. 13. Turning lanes are a bit weird in the center. I drove there in the evening and there was no traffic. I'll try during rush hour tomorrow. But I don't blame it. At some intersections in Prague, you need to plan your lane changes ahead of time. Much earlier than the signage is visible. Anyone driving there for the first time is surprised and makes last-minute confusion. Tesla always drives there as if for the first time. 14. But it handled Anděl without losing stars. Almost. It approached the Ostrovského-Vltavská intersection, of course, acting like: left signal – right signal. Like someone from Brno visiting Prague. 15. Reaction to speed bumps is a bit impaired. It should slow down more. And approach more gently. I love my shocks. 16. It handles narrow streets and small spaces absolutely with confidence. Like it really drives confidently to the centimeter like an old bus driver. 17. In the parking lot in front of the mall, it knows how to come to the gate, wait for the ticket, and go as soon as the gate opens. Just remember to take the ticket yourself. 18. The internal camera nags you, and quite a lot. Just taking your phone in your hand at a red light and it immediately yells at you. You must look straight ahead. Not outside, not at the display, not at the passenger. Ahead. 19. You don’t need to have your hands on the steering wheel. You can have them casually in your lap, on the backrest, or crossed. But if you start to stretch or put your hands above your head, it immediately dislikes that. 20. The EU version has some additional features. For instance, the requirement to announce a lane change in advance. This is absolutely idiotic because instead of looking at the road, you stare at the text on the display. It's distracting. And it's unreliable, because surprise: traffic is dynamic and just because the car wanted to change lanes five seconds ago doesn't mean it will now.
