L’association agit notamment dans l’accès à la contraception et à l’IVG, l’éducation à la sexualité, l’information, la prévention et l’accompagnement des femmes. Le maire assume aussi une dimension politique à cette suppression, reprochant notamment à l’association ses prises de position contre le RN. Fervent catholique, Hervé de Lépinau avait comparé en 2020 l’avortement à un "génocide", aux "crimes de Daesh" et à la Shoah. 👉 Ironie de l’histoire : après que la mairie a coupé les vivres au Planning familial en supprimant ses 3 000 €, l’association a lancé un appel aux dons et récupéré l’équivalent de cette somme en seulement 24 heures. 👉 Le BMX Carpentras perd 35 000 € de subvention. Fondé en 1985, ce club sportif consacré au BMX accueille des pratiquants dès le plus jeune âge, des enfants aux adultes, et organise également des compétitions officielles. 👉 "Carpentras fait son cinéma" perd 59 000 €. Après six éditions, ce festival faisait participer les habitants aux tournages et avait accueilli plus de 5 000 personnes lors de ses spectacles et cérémonies. La suppression de la subvention a conduit à la non-reconduction du festival. L’association affirme avoir appris la décision par la presse. 👉 Les Guinguettes de l’Auzon, qui attiraient environ 5 000 spectateurs chaque année, perdent également le soutien de la mairie. Five Lessons on Aggression and Dominance “There is a point in the history of society when it becomes so pathologically soft and tender that… it sides even with those who harm it.” Friedrich Nietzsche wrote this nearly 140 years ago, yet it still sounds contemporary. In *Chimpanzee Politics*, Frans de Waal shows that dominance, aggression, hierarchy and confrontation—often dismissed in humans as “toxic masculinity”—also appear in our closest relatives. These behaviors may reflect deep-rooted drives, not merely social constructs. **1. The threat of violence can keep the peace** Most chimp confrontations are displays, not fights. Only about 0.4% of male confrontations become physical. Rank depends on strength, alliances, displays and recognition. Violence matters partly because it is rare: conflict must be allowed to resolve before it escalates. **2. When respect disappears, violence rises** Chimpanzees maintain hierarchy through formal greetings, including bowing. At Arnhem, 22 of 37 serious male fights occurred when males had stopped greeting one another—even though such periods made up less than a quarter of observation time. Violence was nearly five times more likely when recognition rituals broke down. **3. Power requires alliances** Before challenging the dominant male, a chimp often grooms females and plays with their young. Like Machiavelli’s political challengers, he builds support before attempting to seize power. **4. Influence can replace force** Female chimps sometimes recruit males to attack rivals, signaling distress and flattering the enforcer while avoiding the fight. Power can operate through alliances and influence, not just strength. **5. Concentrated resources create conflict** Chimpanzees normally forage for scattered food, limiting competition. When humans provide concentrated food, aggression rises. Larger groups are also harder to govern because familiarity declines and hierarchies become unstable. Stable societies may require hierarchy, respect, controlled confrontation and distributed power. Suppressing every expression of dominance may not eliminate conflict; it may remove mechanisms that keep conflict contained.

How Did a Democracy Vote Itself Out of Existence? — The Birth of “Streitbare Demokratie” One of the most important questions in modern democratic history is: How can a democracy use democratic procedures to destroy itself? This question became central in Germany after the collapse of the Weimar Republic. Founded in 1919, Weimar Germany was a democratic state with universal suffrage, including voting rights for women, and strong civil liberties. Yet, within fourteen years, democracy had been replaced by Adolf Hitler’s dictatorship. The Nazi rise to power was not simply a military coup. The Nazi Party gained influence through elections, propaganda, and political negotiations. In 1933, Hitler became Chancellor, and his government used legal mechanisms, including the Enabling Act, to remove parliamentary control and dismantle democratic institutions from within. The lesson for post-war Germany was clear: a democracy can be destroyed not only by external enemies, but also by political movements that use democratic freedoms to eliminate democracy itself. When West Germany created its new constitution, the Basic Law (Grundgesetz), in 1949, its founders developed the concept of “Streitbare Demokratie”—a democracy capable of defending itself. The idea was that democracy should not be completely neutral toward forces that seek to abolish democratic rights. A democratic majority cannot legitimately remove the foundations that make democracy possible. Therefore, the Basic Law introduced several safeguards: Political parties that seek to undermine the democratic constitutional order can be banned. The Federal Constitutional Court was given strong powers to protect constitutional principles. Core values such as human dignity, democracy, and the rule of law were given special protection and cannot easily be removed. “Streitbare Demokratie” reflects a difficult balance. Democracy requires freedom of speech, political competition, and tolerance of different opinions. However, history showed Germany that unlimited tolerance toward movements committed to destroying democracy can allow democracy itself to disappear. The central question remains: How tolerant should a democracy be toward those who are intolerant of democracy? Germany’s answer after 1945 was that democracy must defend the principles that make freedom possible. A democracy is not preserved only through elections; it is preserved when citizens and institutions protect the foundations that allow free elections to exist.

The Pathology of Masculinity and Femininity Without Cultural Restraint Both sexes have evolutionary roles: men developed strength for protection, provision, and competition; women developed beauty and selectiveness for pair-bonding and survival. Culture channels these drives—family structure, dating norms, fatherhood, shame, religion—guiding strength toward building and beauty toward commitment. Remove the norms and the drives seek new avenues. For men, the open channel becomes force: aggression and risk can detach from responsibility, yielding robbery, assault, gang violence, and predation. The shadow side of masculinity is strength used to take rather than protect. For women, the channel shifts to extraction through simulated intimacy: monetized desire via platforms and influencer economies can turn closeness into leverage, often without the pair-bonding or family life it was built to support. The masculine ideal is protector and disciplined provider; its pathology is thug or criminal. The feminine ideal is nurturer and guardian of commitment; its pathology is the seller of simulated intimacy and extractor of attention. Both are corruptions of genuine virtues. Three accelerants intensified these patterns: stigma’s collapse, technology’s scalability of desire, and weakened communities and absent fathers. The root cause is the breakdown of family norms. Men are less destructive when bonded and mentored; women are less exploitative when raised to value enduring commitment. Consequences mirror each other: unchecked male pathology produces violence; unchecked female pathology produces mistrust, loneliness, and demographic decline. Both arise when culture denies that masculine and feminine virtues must be shaped and channeled rather than suppressed.

Rational planning needs prices for **capital goods**, which only markets under **private ownership** can generate. 5) **Hayek:** Knowledge is **dispersed** and local. **Prices** transmit that information so coordination can occur without everyone knowing the full cause. 6) **Rothbard:** Profit isn’t necessarily exploitation. Capitalists bear uncertainty, organize production, and pay wages upfront; workers get an agreed wage, while profit is what remains if the venture succeeds. So the deepest split is not only about profit source, but about coordination: Marx asks who appropriates value; Austrians increasingly ask how millions coordinate exchange, knowledge, and expectations at all.
