Eighty-four years ago, in the church of St. Cyril and Methodius, seven Czechoslovak parachutists fought their last battle against the Nazis. They knew they had no chance of saving themselves, and yet they did not give up. They fought until the end, and their courage, determination, and sacrifice remain a lasting part of our history. Seven heroes against eight hundred Nazis. The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius was defended for a full seven hours. On June 18, 1942, Czechoslovak parachutists fought their last battle against the SS and Gestapo units. With limited weaponry and no hope of rescue. Nevertheless, they did not surrender. Jan Kubiš.
