Christer Sfeir wrote that Gustav III made Marstrand a free port in 1775 to attract foreign ships, merchants, and capital. According to Sfeir, Jewish merchants and families also came to the island, despite the fact that Jews' opportunities to settle and practice their religion in Sweden were then severely limited. He stated that one of Sweden's early Jewish congregations emerged in Marstrand and that Jews in 1782 were allowed to use a vault in Fredriksborg as a synagogue. The vault, according to Sfeir, still exists today. He also wrote that the emigration began when the free port ended in 1794 and that many moved on to Gothenburg, where they became connected to the city's trade and community life. #Marstrand #Sverige #Historik (translated)

Daniel Schatz referred to Fredrik Malm's text, where Malm claimed that Sweden and the Western world focused disproportionately on Palestine and neglected the vulnerability of other groups. He mentioned Kurds, Iranians, and Christians in the Middle East. Malm wrote that Kurds in Turkey had been forbidden to speak their language and identify as Kurds for 70 years, and that Kurds in Iraq had been subjected to war since the 1960s and genocide in the 1980s. According to Malm, Human Rights Watch had reported that 182,000 people had been killed. He also claimed that Yasser Arafat had supported the genocide and compared the war history of the Kurds with Palestinian factions, which he claimed had started ten wars in 60 years. Regarding Iran, Malm wrote that the opposition to the Islamic regime had protested for freedom, while the regime had tried to kill Iranians abroad. He accused the Swedish Palestine movement of supporting the mullahs and described how Iranians had, according to him, been silenced, tortured, and killed for more than 40 years. Malm stated that Christians constituted 20 percent of the population of the Middle East at the beginning of the 20th century, and at most 2.5 percent today. He also referred to ISIS persecution of Christian Assyrians and Syriacs in Mosul in 2014. Malm claimed that Islamism and war had driven Christians to flee and criticized Palestinian activists for celebrating the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamist terror. https://t.co/WUoOR5opO7 #Kurdistan #Mellanöstern #HumanRights (translated)
SARA Nilsson wrote that a man had driven from Norway to Gothenburg to meet a child, but instead met Patrik there. According to Nilsson, the man claimed that the chatting had been a joke and that he had only stopped for a break on his way to Vimmerby. Patrik ended the meeting by wishing him a nice trip there, she wrote. Nilsson stated that the man, the Norwegian Per, drove away in a well-maintained Volvo 245 of the anniversary model. She described the meeting as the prelude to a police chase for a person she called a groomer, which continued through Denmark. After Per was recognized in a picture on social media, Norwegian police reportedly located him in Denmark. By that time, according to Nilsson, he had put his phone in airplane mode, used cash, and changed his name. She wrote that he was arrested and sentenced to a short prison term in Norway for something that is not a criminal offense in Sweden. https://t.co/9fkwqplSap #Norge #Göteborg #Polisjakt (translated)
