Her civic courage was fully demonstrated in 1938 when, in an open letter to Adolf Hitler, she defended the democratic values of Czechoslovakia. After the Nazi occupation, she was arrested by the Gestapo, imprisoned in Terezín, and executed on June 30, 1942, at the Kobylisy shooting range. (translated)
