The post said scientists had rediscovered how to make ancient Roman colour-changing glass, adding that the optical engineering behind the 1,600-year-old Lycurgus Cup, now at the British Museum, had baffled experts for centuries. https://t.co/J3A2yHB7fZ #Ciencia #Historia #Ingeniería #GB

Russia is using fishing trawlers to spy on Britain’s critical undersea cables, The Telegraph reports. Analysis of tracking data revealed more than 500 incidents in which Russian civilian vessels loitered above or followed the routes of vital fibre-optic cables linking the UK with Europe and the US.

Tonin said that Davih's elimination sent chills down his spine and made him remember a round from Sacy in Ascent against Optic in the Champions 2022 final. He stated that, at that moment, he started to believe and showed confidence that "we will be" champions. https://t.co/9H1yQ3Sckl #Valorant #eSports #Sacy (translated)

Optica Universitaria has completed the integration of Medical Optics and plans to expand its network of stores in Spain, aiming to reach 250 establishments by 2030, while facing the challenge of the shortage of professionals in the sector. #Óptica #SaludVisual #ExpansiónEmpresarial (translated)

Aleš Hojs noted that he was an ODIHR observer at the elections in Bosnia, where, according to him, there were no preliminary results. He stated that voters had their identification documents and fingerprints scanned, and they signed a receipt with their photograph. The ballots were then submitted into boxes with scanners, which read them optically; the results from the devices were printed out at 19:01, according to him. Afterwards, the boxes were opened and the ballots were recounted manually for verification. https://t.co/CEwnLrEiRI #volitve #Bosna #opazovalec (translated)

On the island of La Palma, a unique system of telescopes LST is being established, which participates in the research of high-energy gamma radiation as part of the developing Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory, with Czech physicists providing important optical components and technological solutions to enhance the sensitivity of observations. #gamazáření #teleskopy #Čerenkovovaobservatoř (translated)

Certificate mason Aron Pielka thanked everyone who, in his view, had strengthened the position in the dispute between an activist and a Spiegel journalist that a party must distance itself if journalists were treated similarly. He wrote that there is now an attempt to establish this demand regardless of its public impact. #Journalismus #Aktivismus #Medien (translated)

Milei's repentants stated that an offer for an administrative position at an optical store in Lanús had generated several blocks of queues. They argued that any job search attracted numerous unemployed people even on a Wednesday at 11 in the morning, and described the situation with irony as “the best 18 months in history.” https://t.co/7YJYnTSHOn #Empleo #Desempleo #Lanús (translated)

Mick van Wely wrote that his Dutch grandfather worked as an optician for the resistance in Leiden and took photos for forged documents. According to him, his father grew up with a strong aversion to Germans. When, as a five-year-old, he received an apple from a German soldier, he thanked him with a curse word for Germans, Van Wely said. His Hungarian mother, he said, grew up under communism, which he described as just as bad as fascism. Van Wely wrote that he had been raised at home with love for and respect for freedom. This, he said, explained why he sometimes reacted angrily when he saw that the carefully built Western lead and achievements, which had long been taken for granted, were coming under heavy pressure and were slowly being rolled back. #vrijheid #geschiedenis #verzet (translated)

#escroquerie #optique #blanchiment

But that hardly appears to be the limit to how far optics could increase the world's computing power. Optical systems could replace electrical networking switches, the backbone of matrix multiplication for AI models, and someday perhaps even electrical computation itself. https://t.co/drLaOYV8wa #Optics #ComputingPower #AI #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.

We compute with electricity. Why not with light? Light has many advantages for data transmission and perhaps even computation. The semiconductor industry is vigorously pursuing new types of optical computing components for AI.
