The author wrote that heart failure, heart attack and cardiac arrest were often confused. They said they had heart failure, which they described as often a chronic condition translated in many languages as “heart insufficiency”. They distinguished it from a heart attack, or myocardial infarction, which they said was an emergency involving impaired blood flow to the heart, and cardiac arrest, which they described as the absence of a heartbeat.
