When other parts of Europe are forced to downsize, Sweden must be able to upscale. We have land, water, and knowledgeable farmers who can and want to produce more. But a harvest does not start with a political goal. It starts with someone daring to invest and making the farm's calculations add up, says Palle Borgström, chairman of LRF. Europe is strengthening its defense, but must also strengthen its food supply. A farm that is shut down or a generational shift that does not happen weakens the ability to provide for a long time. That capacity cannot be ordered when the crisis is already here, says Palle Borgström. CAP is a way to share the bill for food, environment, animal welfare, and preparedness. Farmers do the work, but cannot bear the entire cost for what the whole society needs. Sweden must both create space for more Swedish food and contribute to strengthening production across Europe, says Palle Borgström. #Jordbruk #Livsmedelsförsörjning #EkonomiskUtveckling (translated)
