16 September 1941 | A Polish prisoner, Tadeusz Szafran (no. 321), perished in Auschwitz. Tadeusz Szafran was born in August 1922. He was a middle-school student. He was among the 728 men deported from Tarnów to Auschwitz on 14 June 1940, in the first transport of Polish men to the camp. C'est son devoir de commenter ce qui se passe et de donner aux gens des rêves et une image humaine des personnes que nous n'avons pas la chance de connaître. C'est très important. Le film Dead Man Walking a humanisé la question de la peine de mort et vous a donné des clés pour que vous puissiez vous faire votre propre opinion. Je ne crois pas que les films devraient vous dire ce que vous devez penser. Mais ils devraient vous donner l'occasion d'avoir une perspective différente. Et ensuite, le mieux est qu'après la séance, vous sortiez dîner et que vous débattiez du film. C'est pourquoi nous devons être très prudents avec les films que nous faisons et ce que nous y disons parce qu'ils peuvent influencer notre psyché."
