The article discusses how the production of chemically synthetic fertilizers, which allow for high crop yields, is hindered by a high reliance on natural gas, and it examines whether more climate-friendly alternatives, such as biomethane or green hydrogen, could replace this unsustainable production; however, these alternatives face challenges with availability and economic competitiveness.
