The NBS informed that on October 18, an unidentified object, possibly a drone, was detected in Lithuanian airspace from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM. This caused air alarms in several regions. Given the available data and the high likelihood that the object could enter Latvia, a heightened alert was also activated in the districts of Bauska, Aizkraukle, and Ogre. The NBS indicated that due to the potential threat, NATO air defense mission fighter jets were deployed. According to the information available at the time, the fighters did not shoot down the object, and there was a possibility that it detonated itself. The incident site was located in the Pasvalys district in northern Lithuania, near the Latvian border. The NBS added that Lithuanian police were working at the scene, conducting an initial investigation and collecting evidence. The possible origin of the object and the cause of the explosion were still being investigated. #drošība #bezpilotlidaparāts #NATO (translated)
