The Austrian glacier Pasterze, still the largest in the country, is rapidly shrinking and is at risk of soon losing its top position due to significant retreat of the ice and reduction of the Hufeisenbruch glacier, which would lead to its division and make it a less significant glacier compared to Gepatschferner in Tyrol.

This year's mushroom-picking season in the Czech Republic is considered by experts to be one of the worst in recent years, as hard and dry soil hinders the growth of mushrooms, and climate change further complicates the situation by affecting the underground networks of mycorrhizal fungi, on which trees and other plants depend. Radim Tolasz, a climate change expert from the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, warns that in the fight against drought, we must not focus solely on the construction of dams, but it is necessary to adopt comprehensive measures, because drought and floods are increasingly alternating in Central Europe and the situation is complicated by frequent extremes in weather.
