Tim woonde in Vroomshoop en diende bij het Regiment Stoottroepen Prins Bernhard. Zijn contract bij Defensie liep af, waardoor hij aanvankelijk niet voor uitzending in aanmerking kwam. Maar zijn kameraden gingen naar Afghanistan en Tim wilde niet achterblijven. "Samen aan gewerkt, samen afmaken." Dat was zijn credo. Op 20-jarige leeftijd werd Tim de eerste Nederlandse militair die tijdens de missie in Uruzgan door vijandelijk vuur sneuvelde. Zijn naam leeft voort. In 2024 werd bij Vroomshoop een viaduct naar hem vernoemd, in aanwezigheid van zijn familie en Stoters die samen met hem in Afghanistan hadden gediend. Vandaag staan we stil bij Tim.
