Stājoties amatā Robežsardzei caur kamerām bija nodrošināta pilnvērtīga redzamība vien ~3% no visas Latvijas-Baltkrievijas robežas kopējā garuma. Pēc stingrākas sarunas jūlijā - viss ir mainījies uz pozitīvo pusi. Kļūstot par ministru konstatēju, ka neskatoties uz to, ka daudzu kilometru garumā video novērošanas kameras uz robežas bija jau uzstādītas, tomēr Robežsardzei nebija piekļuve kamerām. Robežsardze vēl jūnijā redzēja vien ~5 kilometrus no visas BLR-LAT robežas. Nācās stingrāk parunāt un divu nedēļu laikā tika nodrošināta Robežsardzei redzamība 108 kilometri no LAT-BLR robežas. Šobrīd sadarbība ar LVRTC izskatās labi. Arī atlikušo kilometru redzamība tiks nodrošināta daudz straujākā tempā nekā bija iepriekš paredzēts. Kāpēc tas netika izdarīts ātrāk? Lai to vērtē citi, es savu laiku koncentrēšu uz to, lai tiktu stiprināta mūsu valsts drošība un novērsta neefektivitāte un izšķērdība iekšlietu resorā. Ja būs iespējas palikt amatā, tad jau tuvāko mēnešu laikā varēšu ziņot par kameru uzstādīšanas darbu pabeigšanu uz LAT-BLR robežas.
