Roma Termini, benvenuti nella piazza dove il treno parte e il pendolare evapora. Questo è il piazzale davanti alla stazione Termini, uno dei luoghi più attraversati d’Italia. Migliaia di persone ogni giorno come viaggiatori con valigie, pendolari, lavoratori, turisti, anziani, bambini, gente che aspetta un autobus, un taxi, un appuntamento ed anche un po’ di tregua dal caldo. E cosa trova? Pietra, cemento, sole pieno e quasi zero ombra. Sembra meno una porta d’ingresso della Capitale e più una prova di sopravvivenza urbana sponsorizzata dall’asfalto. Poi gli amministratori si riempiono la bocca con l'adattamento climatico, città resilienti, mobilità sostenibile, transizione ecologica. Tutto giusto ma se davanti alla principale stazione di Roma costruisci una distesa minerale senza alberi veri, senza ombra diffusa, senza un minimo di raffrescamento naturale, il messaggio ai cittadini è abbastanza chiaro: cuocetevi con dignità. Il verde urbano ormai non è decorazione ma è un vero e proprio presidio sanitario nei mesi estivi e non serve trasformare Termini in una foresta amazzonica. Basterebbe ricordarsi che le persone non sono sagome nei rendering ma camminano, aspettano, sudano e respirano. Una grande stazione dovrebbe accogliere e non grigliare i pendolari prima ancora che salgano sul treno. Non si può parlare ogni giorno di green, sostenibilità, città del futuro, e poi progettare gli spazi più frequentati come se l’obiettivo fosse testare la resistenza umana sulla pietra refrattaria. Il green non si misura nei convegni, nei comunicati o nei rendering con tre foglie messe in trasparenza.
