Borut Rončević wrote that the document with presumed foundations for the establishment of a teacher's chamber, which circulated in public, did not originate from the ministry and did not represent their positions or plans. He stated that they are conducting an open and substantive discussion on school reform and expect the media to verify facts before publication. He added that criticism is legitimate and welcome, but misleading the public, in his opinion, does not contribute to a quality discussion about the future of Slovene education. https://t.co/OatrSCqQc5 #šolskaReforma #izobraževanje #fakti (translated)

Borut Rončević wrote that following the announcement of a comprehensive reform of education, he experienced increasing political and media pressure. He described the story about airline tickets as an attempt to discredit the responsible minister and a political showdown, but added that ministers are obliged to explain the use of public money. According to him, information about the travel habits of previous governments shows that the current outrage is not due to concern for public finances, but rather opposition to the reform. Rončević believed that unions and the educational establishment had too much influence on education policy in the past. He attributed a legitimate role to unions in representing employees, but said their influence should not include veto power over the substantive direction of the reform. He also claimed that the educational establishment had harmed the system in the last three decades by following a progressive ideology. Regarding the left and the Left, he wrote that they sought ideological hegemony primarily through the fields of education and culture. He emphasized that in preparing the reform, teachers, principals, parents, students, researchers, local communities, and the economy are involved, while unions should participate in discussions about salaries, working conditions, and employee rights. In his view, those politically responsible should decide on the direction of changes based on data and professional analyses. As ten starting points for the reform, he listed a greater emphasis on knowledge, high standards, the development of students' potentials, work ethic, patriotic and civic education, ideological neutrality, the authority of teachers, early literacy, digital and other knowledge for the future, and broader responsibility in shaping school policy. Rončević announced the relocation of the ministry to Novo mesto, a reduction in the number of employees, and strict limitations on remote work. He stated that the success of the reorganization should be measured by faster responses, timely resolution of issues, lower costs, clearer distribution of responsibilities, and user satisfaction. He wrote that the reform has the support of a broader public, parents, teachers, and the coalition, according to the data he presented. He expected even more pressure, including media publications, reports to the Commission for Prevention of Corruption, criminal charges, petitions, and interpellations, and announced that he would not abandon or soften the changes because of them. #reformaizobraževanja #javnofinanciranje #politika (translated)

Borut Rončević stated that he led a delegation with the head of the cabinet Breda Mulec, the acting general director for science Andrej Vastl, and the ambassador to Japan Jurij Rifelj. According to him, its composition was comparable to that of other foreign delegations and in line with long-standing practice. He added that the government approves the delegation before each trip and that its members have the right to travel with the minister. He wrote that as a minister he represents the state and will not opt for populist moves, such as what he believes was Luka Mesec's two-day trip by train to Brussels and showcasing a sandwich. He believed the story could be highlighted by leftist media and their political allies in the opposition. Rončević also noted that in a few months he reduced the number of employees at the ministry by nearly 5 percent and eliminated over 10 million euros in unnecessary expenses. He emphasized that, according to him, they handle public money responsibly, and the trip was more expensive than desired due to scheduling and the availability of airline tickets. #vlada #slovenija #odgovornost (translated)

Borut Rončević noted that some would prefer that the Slovenian minister travel to the science and technology forum in Japan with a family member and at their own expense. He emphasized that he actively represented Slovenia in Japan and traveled in accordance with applicable regulations, just like his predecessor Igor Papič, who attended the forum three times, and the rector of the University of Ljubljana, Gregor Majdič, with whom he was on the same trip. He stated that the airline tickets were purchased through a public procurement process. He added that representatives of the Slovenian government have been attending the STS forum for many years. At the 13th forum in 2016, according to him, the then Prime Minister Miro Cerar participated, and in the following years, several ministers and state secretaries responsible for science have attended the event. Rončević believed that Slovenia must be present in shaping key directions of global science and technology and announced that the reform will be carried out and that there will be no concessions. #Slovenija #znanost #tehnologija (translated)

Borut Rončević wrote that the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport will hold a reception for diamond graduates on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Brdo pri Kranju. He described their achievements as a source of pride for Slovenia and expected a unifying role from the President of the Republic. He pointed out that receptions in honor of young people and their knowledge should not become a campaign venue for the presidential elections in 2027. https://t.co/Fedq1QGppk #Izobraževanje #Mladina #PonosSlovenije (translated)

Borut Rončević wrote that demography is primarily a question of values. He believed that the state should help parents and ensure that the decision to have more children does not bring additional burdens or worse opportunities. He added that material support alone would not be sufficient and that society should value parenthood, support families, and rejoice in new life. #družina #starševstvo #demografija (translated)

Borut Rončević accused unionist Kovačič of not telling the truth. He wrote that they could not obtain materials indicating that the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport is planning a major intervention in the salaries of higher education teachers and associates, and asserted that such materials do not exist even in draft versions. Rončević stated that they first met at 11 AM and discussed amendments to the Higher Education Act. He called on Kovačič to publicly show the documents and wrote that scaring employees with untrue claims is not social dialogue. https://t.co/VgIPxUf0uY #visokosolstvo #izobraževanje #socialnidialog (translated)

Borut Rončević wrote that the ministry reduced the number of employees by 4.2 percent in four months through soft methods, without affecting the quality or timeliness of work. He emphasized the leadership's responsibility for good work organization, thoughtful task allocation, and careful handling of taxpayers' money, and thanked the employees for their knowledge and dedication. He added that they would continue optimizing the state administration at their ministry as well. #optimizacija #javnauprava #kakovostdela (translated)

Borut Rončević wrote that Mladina has given him a cover story for the second time, and that it was interesting to read his professional biography as written by someone who, in his opinion, does not like him. He pointed out that the article did not mention that he was a Zois scholarship holder and recipient of Marie Curie and Fulbright scholarships, a two-time holder of the Jean Monnet Chair, and a three-time Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence. He added that he mainly perceived from the article that in the past twenty years, faculties and research institutions have been established and a university center has been built in Novo mesto, where, in his words, there is now a public university. If the article is intended as an indictment, he stated that he gladly took note of it. #izobraževanje #novinarstvo #biografija (translated)

Reform will happen. It is supported by the public, teachers, and employees in education. We have formed a professional council in which practitioners play a key role: no less than 11 members are current or former teachers and principals. Representatives from industry and future employers (Chamber of Commerce, Crafts and Small Business, Agricultural Chamber), local communities as founders of kindergartens and primary schools, and other professionals are also involved. We have not entrusted the education establishment, which bears responsibility for the current state, with leading the reform. The reaction is on the front page: personal defamation, inciting envy, and accusations of privatizing education. Photographs from my private life are supposed to replace arguments about the future of schools. But children need knowledge, teachers need authority and support, and education needs results. Reform will happen. Even after this front page. #izobraževanje #reforma #učitelji (translated)

Odmev dela pred vstopom v politiko. #inovacije #priznanje #kulinarika

Spoštovana Franja Žišt, spoštovani pedagoški establišment, spoštovana opozicija, spoštovana Slavko Gaber in Vinko Logaj, sporočam vam: 1. Šolska reforma bo. Rezultati PISA od leta 2015 dalje terjajo ukrepanje. Zavezan sem otrokom, staršem, učiteljem in ravnateljem, ne vam. 3. Reforma ima podporo splošne javnosti, staršev in pedagoških strokovnjakov. 3.

Kljub temu še danes nimamo njihovega jasnega odgovora, kako ta trend obrniti navzgor. Slovenija ne potrebuje še ene študije, ki bo odložila ukrepanje. Potrebuje premišljeno in učinkovito reformo, jasne odločitve in odgovornost za rezultate. Ni popuščanja. Reforma bo. Izpeljali jo bomo v sodelovanju s tistimi, ki slovensko šolstvo živijo vsak dan: učitelji, ravnatelji in starši. #izobraževanje #reforma #Slovenija
