That makes a strong case for immediate, serious diplomacy: a UN‑mediated push for a ceasefire in Yemen, protection for civilian shipping, safe humanitarian corridors, and accountability for attacks on civilian infrastructure. The answer cannot be an ever‑larger military buildup or treating waterways as zones for proxy warfare. The international community should also use leverage — suspend arms sales to actors engaging in sea blockades or war crimes, demand access for relief, and prioritize de‑escalation.
