Chris Avramidis wrote that 1,500 artisanal bakeries closed within three years, of which 1,200 for economic reasons. He cited the president of the Professional Chamber, who, according to him, stated that more bakeries had closed than during the Occupation. He added that professionals claimed their energy costs had increased by 40%. Avramidis noted that the four largest energy groups had shown operational profitability exceeding 1 billion euros in terms of EBITDA in 2025 from energy production, trading, and supply activities. He mentioned that he asked the government if it planned to intervene in the market and the profits of the groups to reduce costs for small businesses. According to Avramidis, government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis referred to the greatest energy crisis in history, previous state interventions, and the taxation of windfall profits, while stating that retail electricity prices in Greece were lower than the European average. Avramidis stated that he raised the question of how the closure of small businesses coexisted with the high profitability of energy groups, asking for a specific new measure for bakeries. In his account, Marinakis responded again referencing already implemented measures, fixed household tariffs, and comparatively low electricity prices in Greece, without announcing new support for bakeries. Avramidis argued that the government response did not address the issue of small businesses and that the energy crisis had different consequences for small professionals and large groups. He said that for the former it could mean closure, while for the latter it coexisted with profits of hundreds of millions of euros.

Anavaloglou Georgios mentioned that Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated in Brussels on 16/10 that the government would not distribute money for political reasons. He contrasted the policies of other countries, saying that Italy planned to tax banks with a target of 5 billion euros in revenue by 2027, the Netherlands aimed to impose an extraordinary contribution of 617 million euros, and Austria would extend an additional contribution of 300 million euros for the same year. He added that Slovakia would maintain an increased tax rate for banks in 2027 as well. Regarding refineries, Anavaloglou said that Germany, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, and Austria had requested a windfall tax from the Commission, while Greece was not among those countries. He cited pre-tax profits of 1.998 billion euros for the two Greek refineries in the first half of 2026, compared to 210 million euros in the corresponding period last year: 891.7 million for Motor Oil and 1.106.4 million for HELLENiQ. He also referenced an interview on ERT on 17/9, where, according to him, Mitsotakis said he preferred money to be returned to citizens through fuel prices rather than collected by the state budget. Anavaloglou noted that the refineries received subsidies of 277 million euros, while the heating allowance increased by only 52 million euros compared to last year. He concluded that this was a political choice and raised the question of whether the Prime Minister sought to be popular with citizens or with those, as he wrote, who profited from the crisis and from whom he sought electoral support.

He said that the family received the coffin closed and without documents, not even a death certificate, and held the funeral without having details. Aslanidis stated that the family requested toxicological, imaging, and histological examinations. According to what he said, the request was accepted, but the family was still waiting for a suitable laboratory to be found abroad. The last update he had, he added, was that a laboratory in the Netherlands had been found, and the Justice Ministry was expected to prepay the costs. He also said that his son was burned along with 27 other children and that, in his opinion, there was no indictment for the reason they were burned. He stressed that he went to the trial to seek justice and not to talk about his pain.

Chris Avramidis argued that inflation burdened citizens and that inflation was not inevitable, as he wrote, the money leaving one side ended up on another. He noted that refineries reported profits of about 1 billion euros in the first half of 2026 and described the sector as an oligopoly essentially consisting of the Vardinoyannis and Latsis groups. He accused Kyriakos Mitsotakis of allowing them to go unchecked and pointed out that proposals had been made to address the situation. He raised the question of why there was a profit cap at gas stations but not at refineries, reminding that a cap had been implemented in 2022 by New Democracy. Avramidis also supported the immediate extraordinary taxation of refineries. He said he had repeatedly brought the issue to the government spokesman and mentioned that a similar measure had been implemented in several countries, including Poland under Donald Tusk's government, whom he described as right-wing. Regarding the effects of inflation, he noted that general inflation could be set at 5.1%, but that rate, in his opinion, did not reflect the real burden on the poorest. He explained that large increases in everyday goods, such as milk, food, and other essentials, were offset in the general index by smaller increases in categories like insurance and financial services. He added that lower incomes spent a larger portion of their money on the goods that had risen most in price. In closing, he thanked Kontra and Konstantinos Maravelidis for the invitation.

A few days ago, in an incredibly cynical statement, the EU told the peoples of its member states that 50 million of them, due to energy prices, have to choose this year: Either they will spend money to feed themselves and therefore will be cold, or they will spend money to warm themselves and therefore will starve! According to the EU Energy Commissioner, the reason for this is the energy crisis... Now let's explain to the Commissioner and the local sycophants why the cause of this cannibalism is "Capitalism, you idiot": — The total GDP of the EU is nearly 18 trillion euros. — In 2025, military spending by member states reached 418 billion euros, marking an increase for the 11th consecutive year. — In 2026 (when households must choose between food or heating) military spending is expected to rise to 454 billion euros, an increase of 8.6% compared to 2025 and 75.3% compared to 2021. — In 2025, investments in the defense sector (military industry) showed an impressive increase of 23% compared to 2024, reaching an unprecedented high of 134 billion euros. In fact, this upward trend will continue in 2026, when investments in the defense sector are expected to reach almost 163 billion euros. This is an increase of 158.7% compared to 2021! — In the first half of 2026, according to an analysis by the European organization Transport & Environment (T&E), only 8 oil companies collected about 7.5 billion euros in excess profits within the EU. Six of these large companies (BP, Shell, Eni, Orlen, Repsol, and OMV) doubled their profits in the European market in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same quarter of 2025, taking advantage of high prices for refined fuels. — Major energy companies operating in Europe and Britain have surpassed 26.2 billion pounds in profits since the beginning of 2026. — The net profits of the 500 largest companies in the EU based on revenue reached 547 billion euros in 2025. — The top 10 banks in Europe in 2025 had annual profits of 92 billion euros, marking an increase of 8% compared to 2024. This is the reality for the EU of monopolies. The capitalist Union that on the one hand enriches a handful of parasites who appropriate wealth, which has a fortune for the coffers and the cogs of the war economy, and on the other hand orders the millions of workers who produce the wealth to decide whether they will starve or whether they will be cold...
