En mayo de 2023, un informe del Instituto de Medicina Legal de Cataluña concluyó que José María Enríquez Negreira padece un trastorno neurocognitivo compatible con un posible Alzheimer, condición por la que se determinó que no estaba en condiciones de afrontar el procedimiento judicial por los pagos recibidos del FC Barcelona durante casi dos décadas. Existe un dato de relevancia en su entorno familiar: María Luisa Enríquez Romero, hija del exdirigente arbitral, es psicóloga forense y ha desarrollado una parte significativa de su trayectoria profesional en el ámbito de la ejecución de medidas de seguridad para personas con trastornos mentales dentro del "Departament de Justícia" de la Generalitat de Cataluña. En la actualidad, figura además vinculada al gabinete Peritajes Barcelona, especializado en peritajes psicológicos y evaluaciones forenses en los órdenes penal, civil y de familia. La convergencia entre la incapacidad procesal dictaminada para el exdirigente arbitral y la alta especialización de su hija en psicología forense y medidas penales alternativas añade un elemento de análisis al contexto del caso. Ante este escenario de notable coincidencia técnica en el entorno familiar del investigado, surgen interrogantes de interés público: ¿qué protocolos de verificación garantizan la absoluta distancia e independencia entre los peritos del Instituto de Medicina Legal y los profesionales del ámbito forense que componen el entorno de las partes? ¿Hasta qué punto el conocimiento especializado dentro del núcleo familiar influye en los cauces habituales de la evaluación médica en un procedimiento de esta trascendencia?
