🚨 Tom Aspinall RENONCE à son titre UFC. ❌ 🗣️ "Les complications persistantes liées à mes yeux font que je ne peux actuellement pas obtenir l’autorisation médicale nécessaire pour combattre. J’ai subi plusieurs opérations, accidents et infections, et j’ai fait tout mon possible pour pouvoir reprendre la compétition. J’avais déjà accepté une date de combat et j’avais recommencé à m’entraîner avec des partenaires, je me sentais très bien et j’étais prêt à combattre, lorsqu’un accident a causé de nouveaux dommages à mon œil droit. Cela signifie que je vais devoir m’éloigner du sport encore plus longtemps et, pour le moment, la date de mon retour reste incertaine. Je sais que certains se sont demandé pourquoi je suis resté silencieux. J’ai toujours suivi les conseils de l’UFC et je me suis concentré sur ma récupération pendant que nous essayions de faire en sorte que mon retour puisse avoir lieu. J’ai maintenant pris la décision de renoncer au titre des poids lourds. J’ai demandé à l’UFC de me permettre de faire cette déclaration parce que je ne veux pas bloquer la division des poids lourds. Je sais ce que cela fait de voir sa carrière mise en pause, et je veux que les autres combattants aient la possibilité de se battre pour le titre. L’UFC et Hunter ont été informés à chaque étape et ont eu accès aux examens, aux interventions et aux informations médicales concernant mes yeux. Nous avons travaillé étroitement avec différents médecins et spécialistes pour essayer de rendre mon retour possible, mais malheureusement, ce n’est tout simplement pas possible pour le moment. Je suis complètement dévasté. Je poursuis ce rêve depuis l’âge de 10 ans. Je n’abandonne pas. Renoncer au titre ne signifie pas renoncer au sport ni à mon rêve. Je vais continuer à faire tout ce qui est en mon pouvoir pour retrouver la santé, obtenir l’autorisation médicale de combattre et reprendre la compétition dès que possible. Ce qui rend la situation particulièrement difficile, c’est que bon nombre des complications auxquelles je fais face sont la conséquence de coups irréguliers qui ont changé le cours de ma carrière. Les combattants comptent sur les officiels pour faire respecter les règles et nous protéger dans ces moments-là, et il est difficile de devoir encore subir aujourd’hui les conséquences de ces incidents.
