Guten Morgen zusammen, heute vor neun Jahren, am 17. August 2017 fuhr ein 22 jähriger Marokkaner mit einem Lieferwagen durch eine Menschenmenge auf der Boulevard La Rambla in der Stadtmitte von Barcelona. Bei dem islamistischen Anschlag wurden 14 Menschen getötet und weitere 118 Menschen teilweise lebensgefährlich verletzt. Der Attentäter tötete bei seiner anschließenden Flucht einen weiteren Menschen. Unter den Opfern waren auch zwei Kinder. Julian war 7 Jahre alt und kam aus Australien. Der kleine Xavi war erst drei Jahre alt. In der darauffolgenden Nacht fuhren fünf Männer, auch Marokkaner, zum Badeort Cambrils, in der Absicht möglichst viele Menschen mit Messern anzugreifen und zu töten. Sie wurden von der Polizei gestellt und bei der Verfolgungsjagd erschossen. Zuvor töteten sie eine Frau und verletzten sieben weitere Menschen schwer, indem sie mit ihren PKW in eine Menschenmenge fuhren. Die Gruppe plante eigentlich große Bombenanschläge auf beliebte Sehenswürdigkeiten und Wahrzeichen von Barcelona. Nachdem es bei der Herstellung der Bomben zu einer Explosion kam, änderten sie ihre Pläne. Insgesamt soll es sich bei den Terroristen um eine Gruppe von 12 Marokkanern gehandelt haben. Anführer soll der Imam Abdelbaki Es Satty gewesen sein, der in einer Moschee in Ripoll predigte und dort Mitglieder für die Anschläge anwarb. Wie das auch bei uns schon der Fall war, konnten die Anschläge nur geschehen, weil zuvor Abschiebungen wegen vermeintlichen bürokratischen oder juristischen Hindernissen scheiterten . Der Anführer Es Satty sollte nach Verbüßung einer vierjährigen Haftstrafe wegen Drogenhandels im Jahr 2015 nach Marokko abgeschoben werden. Ein Richter stoppte jedoch die Abschiebung, weil er der Ansicht war, dass von dem Imam keine ausreichend große Gefahr ausging und er sich um Integration bemüht hätte. Insgesamt wurden 8 der Terroristen durch die Polizei getötet. Zwei weitere wurden zu Haftstrafen von bis zu 53 Jahren verurteilt. Ein dritter Terrorist wurde zu acht Jahren Haft verurteilt, wurde dann aber im Jahr 2024 entlassen und nach Marokko abgeschoben, nachdem die Haftstrafe verkürzt wurde. Dieser Anschlag war der achte Terroranschlag von Anhängern des Islams, innerhalb eines Jahres, mithilfe eines Autos, das in Menschenmengen gelenkt wurde. Keiner weiß, wie viele islamische Terroristen unter uns sind. Es ist nicht die Frage ob ein weiterer Anschlag auf uns, in deren Augen Ungläubige, passiert, sondern wann.
