A French court found cement giant Lafarge guilty of paying around €5.6 million in extortion to ISIS and other militant groups through its subsidiary Lafarge Cement Syria in order to continue operations at its factory in Syria between 2013 and 2014, resulting in a €1.3 million fine and a six-year prison sentence for former CEO Bruno Lafont, while also acknowledging that these payments contributed to the financing and strengthening of terrorism in the region. #Lafarge #Terrorism #Syria
