Sidste år skrev jeg en klumme og var i Borgerlig Tabloid om et vigtigt emne: behovet for bedre statistik på børn af efterkommere – også kaldet 3. generation. I dag regnes de fleste af de børn for at være af dansk oprindelse. Det er et problem, fordi der er al mulig grund til at tro, at de statistisk set ikke svarer til jævnaldrende med dansk oprindelse. Eller sagt på en anden måde: Der er stadig et integrationsbehov hos tredje generation, og disse forskelle udviskes, hvis vi regner dem for dansk oprindelse i statistikken. Nu har udlændingeministeren taget emnet op i @berlingske og er enig i ovenstående. Godt. Men regeringen er splittet. @moderaterne_dk og @radikale er selvfølgelig imod, fordi de åbenbart ikke kan lide viden, hvis den viden (i deres optik) rejser ”ubehagelige” spørgsmål om, hvornår man er dansk. Den slags insisteren på uvidenhed, for at bevare den gode følelse i mavsen, er simpelthen beskæmmende. Og argumentet er selvfølgelig også noget vrøvl. For det første har det intet at gøre med, om man er dansk eller ej. Lige så lidt som de nuværende herkomstskategorier har det. For det andet er det også noget socialkonstruktivistisk nonsens, at unges følelse af at være danske - eller have loyalitet og kærlighed til Danmark - skulle have en fis at gøre med statistiske kategorier hos Danmarks Statistik. Jeg vil fortsætte med at kæmpe aktivt for, at vi får ændret de statistiske kategorier. Det vil nemlig gøre os klogere på de langsigtede konsekvenser af indvandringen.
