Théo Laubry stated that the building in question was not just an urban facility, but a 150-year-old monument, classified as a heritage site in France, whose disappearance also erased an important place of Belgian resistance during World War II. According to him, the town hall of Limoges hosted the Belgian parliament in exile in May 1940, after the capitulation of Leopold III to Nazi Germany, making the city the political capital of free Belgium. He added that the parliamentarians voted there to suspend royal power, a decision that would lead to the king's abdication after the war. Théo Laubry also recalled that residents of Limoges contributed in 2015 several tens, if not hundreds of thousands of euros, to the renovation of the building, and called its disappearance disgusting. #Patrimoine #Histoire #Résistance (translated)
