Yann LeCun claimed on social media [7] that my foundational 1990 paper on Neural World Models [1] "was never accepted through peer review." This is simply false. The core concepts from the tech report [1] were peer-reviewed and published at international conferences right away: https://t.co/vVg15Qh05U #NeuralNetworks #PeerReview #AIResearch #Nospecificcountriesarementionedinthetweet.

A recent NYT article by @CadeMetz [1] claims that neural network distillation was first developed in 2015 by a team of Google researchers including G. Hinton [2]. Not true! I published the technique in 1991 [3]. [2] failed to cite [3]. See the overviews [4][6]. It's blind thinking that the wonderful and terrifying things AI may bring us, from medicine, to universe understanding, to terrible social issues and potentially extinction, are up to a few CEOs. It's a path that was unavoidable since initial discovery of neural network. #ArtificialIntelligence #NeuralNetworks #FutureOfTech #Nospecificcountrycodesarementionedinthetweet.
