As long as you can buy Turkish dates from a country that has occupied Northern Cyprus for decades or Moroccan products from Western Sahara, and Chinese goods despite serious human rights criticisms regarding, among other things, Xinjiang and Tibet, it is untenable to claim that there is a consistently applied international legal norm at play here. If international law is truly the standard, that standard should be applied consistently and without selectivity. Equal treatment means applying the same standard to everyone.
