το καλοκαίρι του '82 κάτσαμε με τον Γιάννη να δούμε Μουντιάλ στο καφενείο του Μένιου στα Τρίκαλα. είδαμε όλους τους αγώνες, όλους ανεξαιρέτως, κλάψαμε, πονέσαμε, σπαράξαμε με τη μεγάλη Βραζιλία του Τέλε Σαντάνα που έχασε το κύπελλο από τις πονηράτζες τους Ιταλούς. και στην Ίο δεν πήγαμε. πήγαμε στην Αβινιόν οδικώς να δούμε κάτι Γαλλίδες που τις είχαμε πετύχει το προηγούμενο καλοκαίρι στο Λένινγκραντ. θα σας τα πω άλλη φορά. τον άλλο χρόνο, μου λέει ο Γιάννης "άμα δεν πάμε ούτε φέτος στην Ίο, θα πέσω να πεθάνω". του λέω, "φύγαμε". μπαίνουμε στο καράβι, φτάνουμε στο νησί, με βλέπουν με το σορτσάκι (εδώ στη φωτό) οι άλλοι της παρέας που ήταν ήδη εκεί, μου λένε "ρε βλάχο, σύρε πάρε ένα σαλβάρι". πάω κι εγώ, ράιτ θρου. εκατό δραχμές τα πούλαγε τότε ο έμπορος, ενενήντα άμα πήγαινες συστημένος. όλοι συστημένοι πηγαίναμε. πήρα λοιπόν ένα γαλάζιο, που το έλιωσα κυριολεκτικά. νομίζω στο τέλος έγινε ποτηρόπανο. ο πολύς ο κόσμος προσπαθούσε να απλώσει σλίπινγκ μπαγκ σε ένα τειχάκι στο Μυλοπότα, αλλά έστελνε τη μπατσία η Σούλη που είχε το κάμπιγκ τέρμα στην παραλία και τους μαζεύανε και σου έλεγε η μπατσία "έχεις ένα κατοστάρικο στην τσέπη;" κι άμα δεν είχες σε στέλνανε κρατητήριο και έφευγες με το επόμενο πλοίο. είχα πάντοτε ένα κατοστάρικο στην τσέπη μου. οπότε μέναμε στη Σούλης. όπου σε βάραγε ο ήλιος κατακούτελα, εκτός από το απογευματάκι που είχε λίγο σκιά στο κτίριο της τουαλέτας/μπάνιου και πηγαίναμε και κοιμόμασταν καμιά ώρα εκεί. αλλιώς έπιανε φωτιά η σκηνή κάθε πρωί κατά τις επτά και ήθελες δεν ήθελες, ξύπναγες. δεν ήθελες δηλαδή, αλλά τί να κάνεις; κι ας είχες κοιμηθεί στις πέντε... και ναι, κοιμόμασταν στις πέντε, γιατί γυρνάγαμε όλη νύχτα από μπαρ σε μπαρ. ντίσκο ποτέ κι ας ήταν κομενοπαγίδες το Φανάρι και ο Σκορπιός. ήμασταν χάρντκορ ροκάδες και πάντα καταλήγαμε στο Friends, το πιο γαμάτο ροκόμπαρο της Μεσογείου όλης. ακόμη θυμάμαι που χορεύαμε αγκαλιά καμιά τριανταριά αγόρια και κορίτσια το "Gimme Shelter" των Rolling Stones, τέτοια στιγμή ούτε έζησα ούτε θα ξαναζήσω ποτέ. με αυτές τις συνθήκες διαβίωσης βεβαίως (και όλα τα λεφτά να πηγαίνουν στο πιοτι!), δεν είναι διόλου τυχαίο που η κατάσταση θύμιζε sixties: αν μπορούσες να θυμηθείς πως πέρασες, τότε δεν ήσουν εκεί. ήμασταν όλοι σε ένα διαρκές purple haze, τότε ακριβώς κατάλαβα τι εννοούσε ο Hendrix όταν το έγραψε. αλλά ήταν τόσο απαραίτητο για να τινάξουμε από πάνω μας και τα τελευταία σκοτάδια της καταραμένης εφηβείας στην επαρχία. εδώ λοιπόν, φωτογραφημένος από το Γιάννη στην Ίο. από τη Zenith που είχα ψωνίσει στο Λένινγκραντ κι ακόμη απορώ πως δεν την τσούρνεψε κανένας στη Σούλη. ίσως τους φαινόμουν πολύ ξωτικό για να τα βάλουν μαζί μου... το φανελάκι, παρεμπιπτόντως, με τον γιαπωνέζικο ήλιο, το έχω ακόμη. δεν νομίζω ότι μου χωράει, αλλά έχει επιβιώσει πολλές δεκαετίες και μετακομίσεις τώρα . αποδεικνύοντας για μια ακόμη φορά ότι η μοναδική περιουσία των αιωνίων εφήβων δεν είναι τίποτε άλλο από τα μπλουζάκια τους!
