Need to stop assuming leftist views mean someone is an ally to women. Many men, including darlings of the left in Irish entertainment and beyond, have used the cover of progressive causes and legal threats to silence credible accusations of sexual violence from women. It's not a reliable indicator.

The writer said Lana Nusseibeh had long understood that the UN worked when people were willing to build bridges others avoided. They credited her with doing so quietly, consistently and professionally on the Security Council, and said she now had the chance to take the same approach elsewhere.

i'm guessing here, but someone has been filing dozens and dozens of unpaid wages suits against FedEx and I presume FedEx made their workers sign a class/collective action waiver so now they're stuck dealing with hundreds of individual cases. sucks to face the consequences of your own actions.

DAN stated that Christians and those converting to Christianity suffered restrictions, persecution, or punishments in various countries. According to him, in Morocco, Moroccan Christians were not recognized and could not build churches, while foreign residents could. He also asserted that in Algeria churches were closed and Cabyle Christians were persecuted; that in Tunisia local Christians lived underground; and that in Libya Christians were arrested and condemned to death. Regarding Mauritania, he said that Christians remained hidden and could face the death penalty if discovered. He claimed that in Saudi Arabia conversion to Christianity could lead to arrest and death if the person refused to retract, and that there were no churches for citizens or foreign residents. He added that in Kuwait apostasy could lead to a judicial process and execution. DAN stated that in Qatar churches were only for foreigners and had no crosses, and that citizens who converted could be arrested and sentenced to death. He also claimed that in Yemen Christians lived in secret and could be persecuted and sentenced to death if discovered. Regarding Egypt, he noted that Copts faced constant pressure and that Muslim converts were jailed; he added that churches did not dare to receive them because, he claimed, the State prohibited conversion. He also said that in the United Arab Emirates foreigners could practice their religion, but citizens who left Islam had to hide or could go to prison. He stated that Christians in Syria lived under pressure, that conversion was forbidden, and that those who were discovered could be killed. About Jordan, he indicated that native Christians could have churches, but converts were considered apostates under the law. He also wrote that in the West Bank converts had to hide and could suffer persecution and imprisonment if their conversion was known. Regarding Iraq, DAN maintained that Christianity was being expelled from the country as believers fled, and that conversion was illegal and could be punished with arrest. He added that only in Iraqi Kurdistan and Lebanon was there limited space for those converting. In closing his publication, he ironically referred to Islam as the "religion of peace and tolerance" and the religion of moderates. #LibertadReligiosa #PersecuciónReligiosa #Tolerancia (translated)

The author argued that social pressures and organisational incentives often made people reluctant to criticise their own groups or institutions. They said this likely left organisations under-criticised by insiders and that non-disparagement clauses were probably harmful to society overall.
