14. srpna roku 1977 emigroval do USA herec Jan Tříska Patřil k nejoblíbenějším českým hercům. V roce 1977 se rozhodl pro emigraci z komunisty ovládané země. Usadil se v Kalifornii, dokázal prorazit i v Hollywoodu. Do vlasti často jezdil, hrál zde v divadle a objevil se v řadě filmů. Po emigraci se komunistický režim v Československu snažil Třísku, který měl vždy blízko k disentu, vymazat z povědomí lidí. Filmy či například televizní seriál F.L.Věk, ve kterých hrál, se nesměly vysílat. Po změně režimu v roce 1989 se vrátil do českého povědomí triumfálními výkony v rolích krále Leara a učitele Igora Hnízda ve filmu Obecná škola. Pražský rodák Tříska (4. listopadu 1936) vystudoval Divadelní fakultu AMU. „Jako mladý jsem se účastnil recitačních soutěží. Na jedné z nich si mě všiml Karel Höger. O přestávce za mnou přišel a zeptal se, co chci studovat. Odpověděl jsem: tanečníka. A on: můžete být dobrým hercem,“ vzpomínal Tříska na své rozhodnutí stát se hercem. Hned po škole nastoupil do Národního divadla: „Byl jsem hloupý, vzpurný mladík, který měl jen to drzé čelo.“ Přesto zde vytvořil řadu vynikajících rolí vrcholících Shakespearovým Romeem. V roce 1966 zakládal spolu s Otomarem Krejčou Divadlo za branou. Hrál v řadě Krejčových inscenací, točil filmy i televizní hry (Srpnová neděle, Lidé z maringotek, Radúz a Mahulena). V roce 1972 bylo Divadlo za branou zavřeno a o pět let později Tříska emigroval. Jeho rozhodnutí uzrálo na Tři krále, poté, co zavřeli Václava Havla (ten byl Třískovým svědkem na svatbě v roce 1968). To už měl Tříska za sebou podpis manifestu Dva tisíce slov a z toho vyplývající omezení v televizi i u filmu. Manželé odešli nejprve do Řecka a pak do kanadského Toronta, kde měli příbuzné. Jen pár měsíců po útěku už Tříska hrál v New Yorku ďábla Wolanda v Mistrovi a Markétce. „I když neuměl dostatečně anglicky, svým projevem a osobností strhl obecenstvo,“ psaly kritiky. Čerstvého imigranta pro tento part obětavě připravoval Jiří Voskovec. V Americe Tříska natočil mimo jiné filmy Semtex blues, Nevěrně tvá, Rudí, Lid versus Larry Flynt, Andersonville či Ronin. Divadelním vrcholem byla role Jepichodova v Čechovově Višňovém sadu, který režíroval Peter Brook. Od roku 1982 žil v Los Angeles s manželkou Karlou, původně herečkou, posléze manažerkou v hotelu Bel Air, s kterou mají dcery Karlu a Janu. V Česku se po roce 1989 krom Obecné školy objevil například ve filmech Řád, Rok ďábla, Želary, Jedna ruka netleská, Horem pádem. #JanTříska #emigrace #českáKultura
