A hosta je třeba chránit i za cenu vlastního života. Do záchrany se zapojovali muslimové i křesťané. Úředníci vystavovali falešné doklady, rodiny ukrývaly Židy ve svých domovech a pomáhaly jim najít útočiště na venkově. Téměř všichni Židé, kteří se během německé okupace nacházeli na území Albánie, holokaust přežili.
